Wear your birthday suit for a world-record attempt 05 Jul 2009 15:24

It's really, really hot. So, like the 63-year-old usually does, Dennis Duncan takes off all his clothes at Oaklake Trails Naturist Park.

Soon, Duncan will join countless other naturists across North America as they all try to set a Guinness World Record for the largest number of people simultaneously skinny-dipping.

The event is July 11 at 2 p.m. It caps off Nude Recreation Week, which is July 5-11.

Two Oklahoma naturists resorts will be a part of the event: Nature's Hideaway, near Keystone Lake, and Oaklake Trails Naturist Park, which is between Tulsa and Oklahoma City.

"I am looking forward to the event because it will give nudists and non-nudists alike an opportunity to experience nude recreation and realize this is a safe, fun and wholesome type of family recreation," said Duncan, Oak Lake Trails' skinny-dip event coordinator. "For those who might be a little reluctant or shy, this is the perfect opportunity to join friends and family and have fun, while being a part of a new world record."

In advance of the event, Duncan
offered some advice (at right) for newbie skinny-dippers who will attend the record-breaking attempt at Oaklake Trails.

Duncan’s tips — if YOU dip

“Newbie skinny-dippers need to know that we screen all visitors and guests. We welcome singles, couples, families and everyone in between. We are more concerned with attitudes and behavior than what an individual’s orientation might be.

dive“Those participating in the event will be asked to sign a release, not only for liability issues but for privacy issues as well.

This highly publicized event will still safeguard an individual’s right to privacy, especially as far as photographs are concerned.

“Towels are a must — one to sit on, maybe a second one to dry off.

“Sunscreen is extremely important.

“Kids are definitely welcome, and can participate in the skinny-dip, but because of Guinness rules, will not be included in the count for the attempt at the new world record.

“Bring a smile.
