Firefighters Sam Rosewall and Marty Teir were determined to keep their eye on the ball to ensure Rolleston Fire Brigade won the annual volleyball challenge against the Pineglades Naturist Club in Rolleston.
It was the 29th year of the contest between the naturist club and the fire brigade.
The firefighters also won the tri-series, involving the Selwyn District police, and the recently introduced ladies' trophy.
Pineglades Naturist Club publicity officer Glenne Findon said several firefighters were called back to base soon after the contest ended in case they were needed at a fire in Heathcote Valley.
About 200 people took part in the festivities, which included pony rides and a barbecue.
